Below is my first cartoon in a while, inspired by a trip to Venice last weekend. Angelo, who organised the trip, is Venetian and was full of interesting facts and anecdotes about the place, most of which - as usual, when I’m supposed to be absorbing culture - went in one ear and out of the other. Why is it I can’t seem to retain, or even pay attention to, facts, information, knowledge when it’s imparted to me, and find the dead pigeon’s wings on the ground so much more fascinating? Why is Tony’s version of history so much more memorable than just about any more reliable source? Thank you Angelo for a great trip – I learned a lot!
